Epic is reportedly cracking down on Fortnite players who have used the 'switch' method to purchase V-Bucks. An exploit found on the Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite allows players to purchase V-Bucks and instantly charge it back on their credit card. This refunded money spent on the purchase but, the V-Bucks remained on player profiles. Essentially, the switch method is a credit card fraud that scammed Epic Games.
Some Fortnite players have received an in-game message, which notifies them that their V-Bucks and items purchased with these V-Bucks have been removed. However, players who used the switch method aren't the only ones affected by Epic's crackdown. Many players who purchased V-Bucks and in-game items from third-party sellers have also been affected.
Epic has also removed V-Bucks and in-game items purchased via third-party sellers. While many third-party sellers may seem legitimate, there isn't any way to confirm whether the sellers have not purchased the currency illegally. So, players are advised to purchase V-Bucks and items via the in-game store.
